Dr. Dan IsomDan Isom, retired chief of the St. Louis Police Department, now is in charge of the St. Louis Initiative to Reduce Violence.

Isom, who is the group's secretary and an UMSL professor, has been named interim executive director while a search is conducted for a permanent one, the Rev. B.T. Rice said.

Rice founded SIRV two years ago to reduce violence, especially gun attacks, among young people. The group concentrates its efforts in north St. Louis and Jennings.
